Factions and lore

The Dream Warrior orders behind every Partner. Who the factions are, what they stand for, and why their identities shape team synergies.

Pre-launch draft. Compiled from the original global version ahead of the Illusion Connect: Re relaunch. Rankings and details will be refined as the live meta settles.

Why factions matter

Every Partner in Illusion Connect belongs to one of seven Dream Warrior orders. The faction is not just flavor. Eden of Gaming analysts treat it as a first-glance read on a Partner: a faction telegraphs the roles it tends to field, the fantasy it fights with, and the units it pairs cleanly with. A few leader auras and team skills reward stacking Partners from the same order, so knowing the factions is the cheapest way to spot a synergy before you ever check a stat sheet.

Faction is a shortcut, not a footnote. Read it first, then read the kit.
  • Role signal. Each order leans toward a fighting style, so the faction hints at whether a Partner is more likely an Attacker, Guardian, Sorcerer, Light support, or Summoner.
  • Synergy keys. Some leader buffs and team skills scale off how many same-faction Partners share the field. A shared banner is free value before you invest in any of them.
  • Lineup identity. Faction-flavored teams (Phoenix frontlines, Muscipula charm cores, Seed sustain backlines) read coherently and are easier to build around than a grab bag.
  • Collaboration units. The Mist sits outside the six core orders. Treat its guests as power spikes, not as pieces of a long-term faction identity.

The seven Dream Warrior orders

Six core organizations, plus the collaboration guests of The Mist. Each card lists the order, its motto, what it stands for, and the EOG read on the roles and synergies it tends to produce.

Phoenix Burn, then rise again.

The oldest military order of the Dream Warriors. Strict discipline, holding the front line of the fight against the Nightmares in every major city.

GuardianAttackerLight support

RosterDiana · Averyl · Butterfly · Brooke · Carol

EOG read

The default frontline order. Phoenix fields disciplined tanks, fire Attackers, and banner-bearing Light buffers, which makes it the safest faction to anchor a new account around. Expect taunts, team DEF auras, and morale buffs. If you are unsure who holds your front row, a Phoenix Guardian is rarely the wrong answer.

Tobunkai Knowledge is a weapon.

A dream-research academy from the East. Its members master ancient martial arts fused with dream-diving technology.

SorcererAttackerSummoner

RosterLightning samurai · Rune researcher · Onmyoji summoner

EOG read

The technician faction. Tobunkai leans into precise spell-casters, fast multi-hit Attackers, and utility Summoners that bend a fight rather than brute-force it. Its standout pieces tend to be cost-reducers and energy enablers, so a Tobunkai support can quietly raise the ceiling of an entire team built around another order.

Liberos Free as the wind.

An alliance of free-roaming adventurers and explorers. Bound by no rules, yet always present when the dream cities are threatened.

AttackerSpell bufferGuardian

RosterAbby · Wind thief · Aerial navigator

EOG read

The mobility faction, and a quiet PvP staple. Liberos fields high-dodge Attackers and the kind of speed and buff enablers that win opening exchanges. Several of its members anchor famous duet combos in arena content, so check who a Liberos buffer is meant to pair with before you bench it as a solo pick.

Uroboros The end is a new beginning.

A mysterious society that studies the dark side of dreams. Their power is great, and so are their secrets.

SorcererSummonerSpell debuffer

RosterFate-weaver · Demon notary · Moon priest

EOG read

The high-ceiling order. Uroboros trades early consistency for late payoff: curse-stacking Sorcerers, legion-summoning controllers, and debuffers that scale hard after awakening. These are investment picks. Pulled early they can underwhelm, but a fully invested Uroboros carry is often the difference in shadow and endgame content.

Muscipula Beauty that ensnares.

An entertainment house and intelligence network in one. Its members fight with charm, illusion, and deception.

Spell controllerBufferAttacker

RosterEileen · Charlotte · Stage star

EOG read

The control-and-tempo faction. Muscipula wins by taking enemy turns away: charm, silence, and ATK or speed debuffs, wrapped around a sharp burst Attacker. It is the order most built on named combos, so its value spikes when you own both halves of a pairing. A lone Muscipula buffer is fine; the matched duet is a meta piece.

Seed From a small seed, a world grows.

A community of healers and protectors of life. They keep the balance between the real world and the dream realm.

Light healerLight supportSummoner

RosterAnna · Spring guardian · Greenhouse keeper

EOG read

The sustain backbone. Seed is where the best healers live, from budget early fillers to the game-changer that carries hard content. Almost every long-fight team wants a Seed backline. EOG advice for new accounts: secure one reliable Seed healer early, because sustain is the resource that lets the rest of your roster stay on the field.

The Mist From beyond the mist, they come.

Visitors from beyond the dream world, including collaboration guests. Not bound to the six core organizations, yet they fight alongside the Dream Warriors.

Collaboration unitsMixed roles

RosterRem · Ram · Emilia

EOG read

Not a faction so much as a guest list. The Mist gathers crossover units that sit outside the six orders and often arrive overtuned for their moment. Treat them as time-limited power spikes: grab the strong ones while their banners run, but build your long-term identity around the core orders, since Mist units rarely share faction synergy with each other.

Building around a faction

Faction is the cheapest synergy filter in the game. Before you commit pulls, scan a prospective team for a shared order: a stacked Phoenix front, a Muscipula control core, or a Seed-anchored backline will usually outperform seven strong but unrelated Partners. Where a leader aura or team skill explicitly rewards same-faction members, treat the matching banner as a discount on power you were going to want anyway.
