Pity Is The Spending Lever
Sword x Staff has four pull pools (Standard skills, Premium class-locked skills, Relics, Fantomons). They use different currencies and different pity thresholds. The pity numbers below are the budget you size every other gacha decision against. Skip them and you spend twice for the same outcome.
TL;DR
- Standard banner (blue orb). 1% Legendary, 7% Epic, 22% Rare. Pity at 10 Rare+, 30 Epic+, 70 Legendary. First major mileage target is 200 pulls for a Legendary T1 skill selector.
- Premium banner (pink orb). Unlocks after first second-tier advancement. Uses Covenite, not Stellatie. Targets your class's pool. Do not redeem early Skill Shard Vouchers for T1/T2 skills.
- Relics. Stay on one kingdom's relic banner until 50-70% collection before moving to the next.
- Fantomons. 0.8% SSR. Legendary pity at 80 pulls. 60 Bond Trinkets buys one Mythic copy. Evolving a Mythic to level 108 takes 120 dupe shards — 2 duplicate copies on top of the base, or 120 Bond Trinkets in dupes — so budget 120 per Mythic target.
A single reference page for every gacha pool in Sword x Staff. Each section lists the rates, the pity thresholds, the currency, and the EOG-recommended pull rule. Read top to bottom or jump to the banner you are currently pulling on.
Standard Banner (Blue Orb)
Pulls from every skill in the game. The largest pool, the lowest individual hit rate, but the only pool that gives you skills you do not yet have access to.
Pull rule. Free 10-rolls daily, no exceptions. Paid Stellatie purchases through Verdantglade are a trap (see the Beginner Guide). Save the paid spend for Cinder Ridge, where the Premium banner unlocks and the target pool narrows.
Pity does not reset on reclass. Your Standard banner pity counter (the 70-pull Legendary track) is account-wide, not class-bound. Reclassing at Aqualis does not wipe progress toward the next Legendary. This makes the 200-pull mileage target safer to chase than it looks even if you are still deciding between class branches.
Premium Banner (Pink Orb)
Locked behind clearing Verdantglade and reaching the next map. If you cannot find it yet, that is expected.
- Currency: Covenite, not Stellatie. Covenite is a pity currency — you generate it by burning Stellatie on the Standard banner (the more Stellatie you pull, the more Covenite trickles back).
- Pool: your class's skills only. Smaller pool, higher per-pull odds of useful drops. The structural reason this banner is the long-term spend target.
- Class-targetable. Once you have unlocked the second-tier advancement, you can select which class pool the banner draws from.
- Do not redeem early Skill Shard Vouchers for T1 or T2 skills. Early-game vouchers convert to selectable Legendaries. The early game already gives plenty of free Standard pulls, so spending them on first-tier skills wastes voucher value that gets replaced anyway. Hold them for third-tier and beyond.
Relic Banner (Per-Kingdom)
Each kingdom has its own relic banner. Relics gate the resonance bonus system (four matching-element relics trigger resonance, which levels up every non-resonant relic of the same element). The pull rule on relics is collection-driven, not luck-driven.
- 50-70% collection rule. Stay on each kingdom's relic banner until you hit roughly 50-70% of the kingdom's relic collection. Then move on.
- Why 50-70% and not 100%? Diminishing returns. The first 50% of a kingdom's relic pool covers every resonance and most set bonuses. The last 30% is duplicates and minor stat coverage.
- Why not less than 50%? Resonance bonuses require all four slots of an element. Pulling 30% of a kingdom and moving on leaves resonance unfinished, which costs damage scaling far in excess of any progress made in the next kingdom's relic pool.
F2P will hit blue and purple relic gaps at roughly 70% gallery completion. Paid players reach 90% including Mythic relics. Once pulling slows, switch to Destiny Exploration at the missing relic's listed location to fill the rest — see the Destiny Fruit guide for the three-step example.
Fantomon Banner
Fantomons unlock at level 50 and use a separate currency from skill pulls. The Mythic evolution rule is the single most important number on this banner.
Common Mythic trap. Players spend 60 Bond Trinkets on Aegiswing thinking they are done, hit level 100, then realise evolving to 108 needs another 120 Bond Trinkets in dupes (2 more copies, 60 each). If you cannot afford the full 120 Bond Trinkets in dupes for the role you actually run, do not buy a Mythic. Stack SSR Fantomons in the meantime and bank trinkets.
Pull Order: What To Pull First
A clean spending priority if you have currency in multiple pools at once:
- Free Standard banner 10-rolls. Every day, no exceptions. Daily free pulls are the largest skill source over the season.
- Active kingdom relic banner until 50-70% collection.
- Fantomon banner if you are committing to a Mythic target. Budget for 120 Bond Trinkets in dupes before pulling (full evolution), not 60.
- Premium banner once unlocked. The narrower pool gives better expected value than Standard banner pulls.
- Standard banner paid pulls only after the Premium banner is unlocked and only with a specific target in the 200-pull mileage path.
This order is the F2P default. Spending tiers can deviate: heavy spenders front-load Mythic Fantomons and the Hero's Guide relic (Stellaris Path unlock via voucher spends or direct pack purchases) because both compound across every kingdom. See the Important Tips spending order for that lane.
